Help raise awareness of Spondylitis during the month of May

Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a difficult, often misunderstood and misdiagnosed disease that affects an estimated 1-2% of the Canadian population.

Despite its prevalence, many Canadians have to wait far too long to receive a diagnosis. In fact, the average time for diagnosis in Canada is over 7 years! That’s 7 years where treatment is potentially delayed, where people’s lives are impacted, careers and families are put on hold and people are not able to live life to the fullest.

The Canadian Spondylitis Association was founded by patients and families to bring people affected by this disease together to raise awareness and educate, support and advocate for access to diagnosis and treatment options. We are dedicated to positively influencing patient outcomes by working together with the community on initiatives that empower people and help them live better lives.

I would like to introduce you to Gerald – A Canadian Living with SpA

Gerald is one of the thousdands of Canadians who live with the disease. Please take a moment and watch this video to hear more about Gerald’s Story.

May is Spondyloarthritis Awareness Month and we need your help! We ask that you consider one of the following ways to help us raise awareness and continue to offer timely information, resources and support to people living with SpA. Please consider doing one or all of the following during this month of May!

  1. Making a tax-deductible donation to support the work of the Canadian Spondylitis Association. We are a registered charity and we rely on the support of generous individuals and partners to offer our programs and services to all Canadians who need us. Your donation will help ensure that we can continue to help Canadians like Gerald, when they need us most. Click here to make a one-time or monthly donation.

  2. Join a CSA Support Group. We have a network of volunteer, patient-led support groups in place across Canada to bring people with SpA together to share experiences, learn and support one another on their journeys. Support groups are also available on Facebook.  Join a support group today!
  3. Follow us and share our content on social media. We’re active on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn! The more people who follow us, like and share our content, make comments and engage with us on social media, the more people we can reach and the more we can do to help Canadians living with SpA!

Thank you for your continued interest and support of the Canadian Spondylitis Association. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of many, and with your support we will continue to grow as an organization and community of support!

Sincerely,

Jeff Beach
